The People We Hold Dear is a short animated film. It was my graduation project in 2020.

Lucas lives with his boyfriend, but has to hide their relationship when his mother comes to visit. When his mother finds a picture of the couple, Lucas’s fear to be discovered becomes a reality.

The film deals with being forced out of the closet against your will and the anxiety that comes with that. It also emphasizes the importance of having support from others in the LGBTQ+ community when dealing with people who are unwilling to accept you for who you are.
